Diva Challenge -#124 - Thinking of Calgary

This weeks challenge was about remebering the flooding victims in Calgary, Canada, so therefore the challenge was left open. For sure the weather around the world this year has been weird. I was not aware of flooding in Canada, but have been following the plight of those who have suffered the same situation in Europe last week as well as in India. It is so difficult to see and hear of so many people being hurt and displaced.

It's just not fair that some people get too much of one thing and others get none - like  RAIN. Not that I expect rain at all, but Doha will hit 47C degrees today. That's about 115F. Really? And it's only June. What's going to happen in July? Yup this is the hottest I've ever felt it.

For the challenge I just started with a string and tried stuff.
The weekend starts to day, and summer holidays officially start today as well. It's going to be a long hot one!

Zendala - #60

I feel like I've been running a marathon, and there seems to be no finish line. It's end of term which means exams, loads of studying, a graduation, a shift of schools or perhaps two shifts, I will know in a couple of weeks; which means interviews, and decisions to be made. And to make bad matters worst my sweet sweet Shilo is acting up. He is just really naughty these days. Perhaps he senses the tension and the daily chaos.

How can such a sweet face be so naughty?

Now on to the challenge. As soon as I  saw the template I thought of SCHWAY. But no matter which way I turned it, I could not get it to happen. So I just had to settle for something like SCHWAY's cousin, and RETRO.
If anyone else sees schway in the template and can make it happen, send me a link if you post it.

I am off to put back on my running shoes, in order to keep going, and hopefully reach the finish line much sooner than later.

Mangosteen Watercolor

Here is my latest entry of watercolor fruit to my art journal. It's becoming a regular thing now. So I'll post another fruit next week.

MANGOSTEEN: is a native to hot humid climates in South East Asia.

The white fruit is very refreshing once kept cool. It's not very big so you will need to have more than one if you like it.

Below is a short video I found on how to eat the mangosteen.

If you have found one and tried it, let me know how you like it.

****Please note: the video gave trouble loading on the ipad. If anyone has that problem please let me know. Thanks

Diva Challenge - 122 -Grid (un)Locked

Our challenge this week was to use a grid in a new way. Rick and Maria talk about using "grid seeds". As you fill in one square at a time, a pattern becomes apparent.
I loved doing this, and couldn't decide which grid seed to use. They all seemed to be my favorite. I chose to use C4, G3, and C3.

The final result could be a corset.

Check out Rick and Maria's examples of "grid seeds" on their latest newsletter

Diva Challenge - #121 - Birds On A Wire

Hi All, Big waves and smiles......I hope  everyone's week is moving along smoothly.

This week's Diva Challenge was to use Mary Kissels tangle -Birds on a wire. Super simple and easy to execute.

The tangles I used were of course Birds on a wire and Brayd. Notice I've been practicing shading. Still have a ways to go but I'm getting there.
Thanks for dropping by.

Zendala Dare #60 - Do Over

Don't you wish sometimes in life that when you screw up you will get a chance to do things over? Just start from the beginning? I think we all do at some point. This week Erin gave us the opportunity to do over a template which gave us trouble, or we did not like. I did not have to look very far. Template #58 was a problem for me.

Template from "thebrightowl.blogspot.com"

Not that I did not like the template, but I just did not know what to do with it. I started filling in lines and one thing led to another and voila here's what happened. I did not appreciate it so colored it hoping something magical would happen. NOPE!!!!! To me it was unfinished and had more to say. I did not even post.

THE DO OVERRRRRRR...............
So much happier with this one. I was just introduced to nzeppel, and think it worked so well in the background.
