Challenge #38 Coffee Bean

Its been 2 months since my broken foot. While I can literally feel the heeling take place, I still need to keep off the foot. That drives me crazy - staying still - sometimes doing nothing. How can a person just do nothing? I'm a mover and I need to keep moving. Thankfully zentangle is there to help keep my mind off of not moving. I've been keeping busy art wise and pulled out the paintbrushes again.

Zendala #38 is called coffee bean; simply because of the pod-like shapes in the middle. Then I ran out of ideas of what to do next. Liking what was there so far, I decided not to continue for fear of spoiling the whole thing.

 UPDATE:

After posting the above Zendala, I got some lovely comments thanks guys, and Didisch suggested to do some shading. Now why didn't I think of that. I took her advise and played around a little. And here is the result.  Thank you Didisch for the suggestion.

Very cool zendala--I love the sense of motion created by the lines that are in the "coffee beans" in the center and that radiate outward and overlap between them--very nice.

Like all the line work. Have not tried hypnotic yet but looks nice here. Like the simple scroll border around the middle circle.

I hope your foot will heal soon. I can imagine that doing nothing is frustrating. Your zendala looks great especially the centre part. It really looks like coffeebeans. Perhaps you should do some shading on the outside parts of the zendala, to finish it. I wouldn't tangle more spaces, because it looks just great this way.

There is so much I like about this: the snippet of Groovy in the border; the curls on the inner border; and the echo lines inside that. You have created something quite different. Good job.

You made this template your own with your creative pen!

You did a great job with this zendala and the shading really added something to it.

Very nice, and I love your coffee beans! Isn't it amazing what a difference shading can make? Both are lovely, but the shading really helps.
