Dragonfly Steampunk Mandala

Hello lovely people, it's the weekend, and we are still waiting to leave Doha for our holiday. We chose to sleep in and miss the flight yesterday morning- due to the fact that our flight would have been caught up in that miserable snow storm due to hit the same day in New York. grrrrrr. So we have to be patient and wait for another flight. Twiddle our thumbs and wait some more.

A hearty shout out to a new follower.... wooot wooot..... welcome Melissa, hope you find this space interesting and glad to have you.

Last year I took a class with Guada over at Guada's Circle. Her mandalas are amazing. It was through her that I found the confidence to even try drawing mandalas. So much so I have a whole book filled with mandala good trys and happy mistakes. Guada has an amazing singing voice as well. Go Guada!

Any whooo, Guada has teamed up with Jay from moon-light-creations in a collaboration to offer animal mandala templates for her community to complete. There is an offer of one special template per month. This month is the Steam punk Dragonfly. Watch her video at this link.

Here's my Dragonfly. Coloring was done with Faber and Castell pencil colors, then a white sharpie for highlights.  This took about 2 hours to complete. ***Tired fingers*.

Go check out Guada's Circle she has so much cool stuff going on over there.

Challenge #43

Erin's challenge this week was to use some of your favorite tangles that make us feel like an "amazing artist". Instead of using my favorite tangles I used tangles that I like but don't use enough. Everyone needs a fair chance right?

I like the outcome although it took several hours for me to test the combinations and come up with a few that I thought would work together. I also used my copper colored pencil to add a little something extra.

I create many art projects - Zentangles, mixed-media, watercolor, assemblage, and my latest thing is keeping an art journal although there is more art than journaling going on.

What makes me feel like an amazing artist is when I am finished a project, and my hands are tired, my nails are encrusted with paint, I stand back and enjoy what I see. Even if I don't like the outcome, I am happy with the fact that there is my good old friend gesso to help me start all over again.

What makes you feel like a great artist?
Thanks for the challenge Erin.

Meet She Cat

It's February and I am soooo looking forward to leaving for our family vacation this week. It will be so nice to see color in high definition again. The browns in the desert all seem to blend into a dirty green. Never will I ever take the color green for granted.

Meet She Cat; a half tangled cat with a sweet mischievous look on her face. I have a series of cats emerging in all different mediums. So watch this space if you are a cat lover.

I am also trying out a watermarking program so She Cat is helping with the experiments.
